Western Wisconsin Stars Summer Hockey Program
Please click on links below for forms and schedules.
This program is open to all female players, not just specifically Stars high school bound players. If you have a relative or friend who would like to join the program please let me know so that I can get information to them.
Times for ice practices and scrimmages were designed to allow players to enjoy their summer and participate in other activities. If you are unable to make a practice due to summer activities or vacations, that is not an issue. Just let the coaches know that you will be gone so they are not expecting you.
The program is also designed to not only prepare for the players upcoming high school season, but to also introduce the 7th and 8th grade players to the high school program and skills that will be taught at the high school level.
Scrimmages:
The purpose of scrimmages is to evaluate where we need to work in practice, introduce game play for the concepts of what is being taught in practice, and for the players to have fun.
Additional scrimmages will be added to the schedule. It is early in the summer scheduling process for some teams. Those who register for the summer program will be alerted each time a scrimmage is added to the summer schedule. When there is a 4 game scrimmage festival, players will be allowed to sign up for 2 scrimmages and then any remaining spots will be opened back up to any player.
We will take a maximum of 20 players for each scrimmage: 2 goalies, 6 defense and 12 forwards. If there is not enough for one position but more in another that want to play, a player can choose to sign up for a different position. The exception would be goaltender.
Some scrimmage festivals have a designated JV and Varsity format. If this is the case, players who are in/going into grades 7th, 8th, and 9th will play in the JV games. Those players that are in/going into 10th, 11th or 12th will play in the Varsity games. There will be times there is space in either group for a player to do both, but that will be determined by availability of players.
This is not determining where you will be playing during the season. This is just done to accommodate scrimmage festival.
Dryland/Films:
We will be having dryland. This will involve running, jumping, etc. Players will need to make sure they are properly dressed for dryland and have come type of container for water. Players are to bring their own water bottles for all practices, scrimmages and drylands.
